PRODUCT DATA SHEET

STOP THE RUN-OFF. END THE DRY-BACK.

AQUA DIRT SAND LEVEL is the only Australian-engineered, cationic-only moisture leveller built for sandy loam, coarse sand, hydrophobic potting mixes, coir blends, and clay-contaminated or dispersive “quicksand” profiles. It is not a soil surfactant. Its positive charge grips loose grains and flocculates dispersive fines, slowing infiltration just enough and locking water, calcium, and fertiliser in the root zone while stabilising quicksand-prone mixes.

Why Growers, Greenkeepers, and Gardeners Switch to SAND LEVEL

Water that runs straight through turf, hot spots on fairways, hydrophobic potting mix that drains too fast, dry rings around drippers, and sand that collapses like quicksand when saturated all share one cause: sand and dispersive fines cannot hold charge.

SAND LEVEL adds that missing charge so you can:

  • Stabilise quicksand and clay-contaminated sands by binding grains and flocculating dispersive fines
  • Keep water in sandy soil and cut irrigation frequency on turf and fairways
  • Stop nutrient leaching in vegetable beds and furrow-irrigated cane
  • Slow run-off on sandy paddocks and coastal slopes
  • Balance moisture across patchy greens and combat fungal dry spot
  • Boost CEC so potassium and calcium stay available between feeds
  • Improve germination in sandy seedbeds and reduce hand watering in potted plants
  • Extend pivot cycles on desert sands and manage salt creep in irrigated sand belts
  • Treat sodic/dispersive clay sublayers beneath sand before paving, roads, or landscaping to prevent base failure

Field-proven gains

Site & Crop

Measured Benefit (90 days unless noted)

Almond orchard, Bannerton VIC

+61.9% steady-state infiltration · −32.5% nitrate and −40.9% phosphate leaching · canopy temperature −1.6 °C

Sugarcane furrows, Burdekin QLD

40 L/ha cut irrigation set time 35% and lifted uniformity across rows

Sports turf, Murray Bridge SA

+24–31% root-zone moisture (10–75 mm) · dry patch halved within 30 days

What It Does

  • Creates electrostatic binding and fines flocculation to remediate quicksand-like collapse
  • Levels moisture in hydrophobic zones for racecourses, golf greens, and sports ovals
  • Cuts evaporation from sandy loam, stabilises compost moisture, and holds liquid fertiliser near roots
  • Works alone or amplifies gypsum and Liquid Biochar in a single pass
  • Delivers uniform infiltration without surfactant residues

User

Common Sandy-Soil Problem

Result with SAND LEVEL

Desert Greening & Land Rehabilitation Projects

Extreme hydrophobic or saline sands; sand collapses into quicksand under load

Heavy reset (up to 1 L/m²) builds a stable, wetted base; maintenance keeps moisture and nutrients in place

Quicksand Remediation & Coastal Works

Clay-contaminated sands and dispersive fines that liquefy when saturated

Cationic binding plus fines flocculation increases shear strength and prevents collapse

Golf & Sports Turf Managers

Localised dry patch, hot spots, fertiliser striping

Uniform wetting, cooler canopies, consistent play surface

Nurseries & Landscapers

Coir/potting blends drain too quickly

Longer watering intervals, stronger plugs and transplants

Vineyards & Orchards

Sandy rows lose irrigation; canopy heat stress

Deeper wetting fronts, improved canopy cooling

Market Gardens & Greenhouses

Drip beds develop dry lines; nutrients leach

Stable moisture band, reduced runoff and fertiliser loss

Pasture & Paddock Owners

Sandy slopes shed rain; nitrate loss

Better rainfall capture, lower nutrient export

DIY Gardeners on Coastal Sands

Summer lawn browning; dry veg beds

Water finally infiltrates and plants stay hydrated

Application guide

Application Notes:

Sandy soils are the most unforgiving medium. They do not hold water, they do not hold nutrients, and they heat up and dry out faster than crops or turf can adapt. Hydrophobic sands go further: after repeated drying cycles the surface repels irrigation and rainfall, causing water to run off instead of soaking in. The result is uneven wetting fronts, hot spots, dry patches, fertiliser striping, and wasted inputs.

  • Sand is empty: no structure, no nutrient holding, no CEC. That is why it fails.
  • SAND LEVEL locks sand grains together, spreads water evenly, and stops leaching.
  • LIQUID BIOCHAR is the antidote: it adds the carbon and CEC that sand does not have, turning an empty medium into soil that can actually hold nutrients.
  • Apply SAND LEVEL every 4 weeks, let it dry to form the skin, and reapply if new sand blows in. Always pair with LIQUID BIOCHAR for real fertility and long-term stability.
  • Straight answers
  • Is it a wetting agent?
  • No. Wetting agents lower surface tension temporarily. SAND LEVEL uses cationic attraction to hold moisture all season, making it the best wetting agent alternative for hydrophobic soil without burn risk.
  • Will it clog fertigation lines?
  • Low viscosity and low foaming: safe for drip, boom, or pivot. Jar-test salty or high-NPK mixes first.
  • Can it replace water-holding polymers?
  • Polymers swell and break down. SAND LEVEL chemically binds water and nutrients, delivering a sustainable, re-sprayable solution that fits any drought-proof sandy sports oval or sandy pasture hill.
  • Does it work with compost or LIQUID BIOCHAR?
  • Yes. Charge attraction lets carbon, microbes, and calcium bond to sand, improving colonisation of microbes in sandy soil and holding potassium in vineyard rows.

Pro tips

  1. Apply just after coring, de-thatching, or light cultivation for maximum depth.
  2. Split rates above 500 L ha into two passes if water volume is limited.
  3. Use before seeding to give a quick fix for water-repellent soils and improve germination.

Everyday headaches SAND LEVEL puts to rest

  • Lawns on sandy soil that dry out too fast after watering.
  • Hydrophobic patches where water beads and runs off.
  • Golf greens that lose moisture fast, making play uneven and hot.
  • Bunkers and sand tracks that wash out after heavy rain.
  • Dry rings and patchy turf colour caused by uneven wetting.
  • Potted plants in coir mixes needing constant hand watering.
  • Irrigation systems showing hot spots and cold streaks in audits.
  • Coastal sands losing fertiliser to leaching and salt creep.
  • Capillary mats and drippers that don’t work because media drains too fast.
  • Vineyards and orchards losing calcium and potassium to deep drainage.
  • Garden beds where water evaporates before roots get it.
  • Hilly paddocks and berry rows where rainwater just runs away.
  • Sports fields where turf dries unevenly from front to back.
  • Coarse sands that channel water straight past the roots.
  • Mulch layers that repel water instead of helping it soak in.
